SYSEX

SYSEX

2007-01-22 by dragoon1880

Hi there!

i ve a small problem. I dont know which program I should ude to
transfer SYSEX from and to my EX-800. Main problem is the poor
description of the free programs existing. Maily I d like to save the
patches I made. If needed the whole dump. Then I d like to transfer the
Factory settings back on the EX-800, after checking the factory presets
I d like to transfer the few patches I made on the Banks I dont need.

What program do U use to transfer sysex and what must I do to save my
presets and send the factory settings? Rest later when I ve checked the
factory settings.

THX a lot!

There are tens of tools available.

I use Windows MIDI Watch.
you get this here
http://www.harmony-central.com/Software/Windows/wmw30.html

It not only sends SYSEX but also is good diagnostic tool to see if
there are MIDI messages comming from devices.

Looks easy and promissing. I ll need to check it if I come along with
it as there is no manual with it.

Hello,

Go to "help", and to "Contents...". There is a tutorial.

Re: SYSEX

OK THX

I dumped with the pgm on Harmony Central. Somehow midox seems to be 2
complicated for that and the help files are confusing. Nothing seems
to happen and I found no place to input the dump code F0 42 21 01 10
F7 for the EX-800. But I sent the syx dump (loaded the EX-800) with
midox as I wasnt shure about if the other pgm was doing it due to
there was no message or display showing a process or successfull at
the end. I think it wasnt doing anything. Midox showed that it was
sending data to the EX-800 and due to the option to use the PC
keyboard as MIDI keyboard I was able to check the result without
unpluging and pluging a MIDI keyboard.

I also had UNISYN available but I ve not seen a option to send and
recive sysex even it must be able to do this.

Anyway, now it would be nice to isolate patch 16 of the data dump I
made and send it to a program number on the EX-800. I havent decided
witch actual patch should be overwritten by the patch 16 of my data
dump. Is that possible or is it only possible to send the whole bank
(dump)? Or would it be better to send the dumped data, write down the
parameters of patch 16, reload the dump I ve now on the EX-800 and
set the parameters of patch 16 on the desired program number?

Any sugestions?

THX a lot

I found that with MIDIOX I have to use the "Send and Receive SYSEX" menu command.

You cannot send and receive single patches with the EX800. It only does bulk send and bulk dump.
