Digi Key = Jerks / found cheaper lithium battery holders

Digi Key = Jerks / found cheaper lithium battery holders

2004-08-24 by eric

I just had a bad expierence with Digi Key the makers of Battery
Holders useful if your Poly's battery craps out.

They wanted to charge me $.97 for the holder + $5.00 fee for orders
under five dollars + $5.00 shipping. C'mon the thing weighs .11
pounds if your gonna charge me a $5 fee don't jack me on the shipping
as well.
As soon as I questioned the lady on the phone about this, she became
really short with her answers and tryed to get me off the phone in a
rude manor. I told her I was going to shop around.

This place is much less expensive.

They don't charge a fee and are willing to ship via USPS ground

Sorry for the rant but that lady reallp pissed me off

Digikey is more geared towards corporate buyers, hence
discounts for parts bought in multiples of a thousand!
I actually have had very good experiences with them.
But then I never order less than $30 of stuff from
them. On the plus side, you can BS them for "samples"
sometimes. I gota bunch of different knobs this way
once, another time I got a couple of lengths of
resistors on tape reels(for machine insertion). Now
that Radio Shack is getting out of the electronic geek
market in favor of cell phones and tiny RC cars, ya
gotta go online. Markertek.com is another great source
of cables, adapters and such. Though some of the gear
is MSRP, most things like switchcraft and neutrik
plugs, are cheaper than anything you will find.

A good hobbiest-friendly electronics supplier is Mouser
(www.mouser.com). Not as good of a web site, smaller part selection, but
they'll send you one resistor if that's what you order.

Another place, mostly useful for tools and obscure stuff, is Jameco
(www.jameco.com).
