I still have not had time to solve the problem of a roland d5 (turns on but the display shows only squares and not letters) and a korg m1 with problems of distorted sounds.

I will. Thank you. I've spent the last 2-3 weeks getting a Roland Juno 106 back to fully working with some simple fixes. I bought a multimeter and will see if I can troubleshoot the Poly800. I imagine it is a simple error that I introduced when trying to add the battery. I have a continuity tester now so I can double check that the traces on the circuit board are not broken and also check that all of the ribbon cables are ok.
