i immediately hit his web site after a quick google search but now i have
the machine i need to go back & take notes... the backlight repair looks
simple enough, and the company are based just down the road here in LA.

btw the 'innards' pictures look very familiar - made me laugh. the first
thing i did when i noticed the broken end was to open it up & give it a
clean. its certainly a very well laid out synth and easy to access, unlike
some i won't mention! };-)

yup, though the first thing i did was fire up the roland ef-303 'dj' effects
processor - that modulation filter stepping on the otherwise dull presets is
really the kind of stuff i was expecting. i had to make a 1/4" mono jack to
2 rca cable first, but nothing to worry about. ok, that unit may not be
the finest in fidelity but thats the whole point of machines like the K5 -
something different for the arsenal that not a lot of peope have!

tomorrow i'll fire up the wavestation a/d... };-)

i'll keep scouring the world & see what turns up, though i bet i'll end up
making wooden end cheeks, like my waldorf q

i also need to email 'sound on sound' and get them to fax me their articles
- the original review & the 'how to...' article they ran a few years later.
