Accessing exs instances

2003-07-24 by Julie Larson

Hi Gang,
I just upgraded to Logic 6 and in the process lost a little function
that I found very handy. In logic 5 when I clicked on the blue
illuminated EXS24 button of an audio instrument in the
Environment...if I already had and EXS editor window open...it
automatically made that instance active in the editor. Ex....the EXS
editor for audio instrument 1 is open. In the audio environment window
I double click the blue illuminated EXS button for audio instrument
2....the active instrument for audio instrument 2 becomes the active
instrument in the EXS editor. Presently...it opens a new EXS editor
window. I've looked all over. Does anyone know what to call this and
where I find it. Thanks a bunch

julie

Just guessing here: is it to do with the "Link" button in the editor (if
there is one)?

Hi Julie,

Yes, you need to engage the link button in the currently open plugin
window for the old behaviour. They changed the default in v.6 to having
it off. You can easily change the defalut back to the original way. It's
in one of the song settings or preferences menues. (I can't remember
which at the moment, I think either under "display" or "audio preferences")

I just checked and you're right, I don't think there is one. I thought
there was, but I guess I was thinking of the "open plugin window on
insertion" preference which of course isn't the same thing. I wonder if
saving it in your autoload with the revised link status will work? I
haven't tried that.

Thanks Eli,
I'll give that a shot.
