MPC file convert to EXSP24

2003-01-16 by Chris Brown

Hello,

I am having problems converting my samples (.wav, .aiff, .etc) into EXSP24.

I am currently using a MPC2000 and I wanted to dump the sounds I have created

throught the years into the EXSP24, unfortunately I have no clue how to do it.

Can someone help me please.

Signed

Hi Chris,

I have some good news and some bad news.

Well the bad news is that your friends at Emagic Emasculated the EXSP24 -- so
that you would be sorry you didn't buy the EXS24 and -- of course -- ONLY use
Logic. The thing is -- the EXSP24 has no instrument editor and cannot turn
samples into an instrument. It is not a sampler merely a sample player.

There is perhaps a workaround you could try. I seem to recall that the EXSP24
will import soundfonts -- SF2's. If so, you could download a freeware
soundfont creation tool (Vienna Studio?) and build your samples into soundfonts
and get them into the EXSP24 that way.

Regards,
M

So, If I were to purchase the EXS24, I would be able to transfer my
MPC Files??

Or just go buy a copy of Translator or CDXtract, for dedicated sample
translation.

In short: No.
You'll need some 3rd party tool to convert them or build them up from the
scratch again, only keeping the samples.

Actually the ESX editor is built into Logic, and you CAN create sound
libraries for the EXSP24.

I picked up the Big Box and I've been transferring samples from my
hardware sampler to the EXSP24.

And I expect to see an AU version soon.

Under the Audio menu/ESX instrument editor , then you can map your
samples to your keyboard.

Once you have your samples in .aif or .wav format, organize your
samples in folders. Move the folders to the EXSamples folder, located
in the Sampler Instruments folder.

Check out the online help for more details

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
