re: "Load multiple samples" not available

2001-01-27 by Neil

Hi, thanks for the replies. I've created a new instrument, new zone, new
group, but still no joy. No matter what I try, whatever sequence of events,
these menu items do not appear.
I wonder, could someone be kind enough to indulge me in walking step by step
through how you get to be able to do this, right from launching Logic? I
know it's a pain, but I really don't understand what's going wrong...

Thanks for any further help!
Neil

Sounds like you need to contact Emagic and update LA get a new copy of EXS.
You might just try reinstalling the EXS and LA first.

Start logic, highlight an instrument track. Double click on the track to
open the audio environment and go to the same track instrument that you have
highlighted. Select the EXS24 as the VST instrument. Open the EXS interface
by double-clicking on the EXS designation once it is selected. Click on
EDIT. Move the VST interface out of the way (stays on top at least on my
Mac). In EDIT, select NEW INSTRUMENT. Under the Zone menu, select LOAD
MULTIPLE SAMPLES. If this is not working, you are screwed and must contact
Emagic. Otherwise wipe your hard drive and start over from scratch. Also,
get Norton System Works, but do not install Crash Guard--it destabilizes PCs
(they crash more frequently). NSW will give you great virus protection, plus
the fantastic utilities (which you should run regularly) WinDoctor (most
important) and DiskDoctor (similar to ScanDisk but probably a little
better). Good luck.

Ouch! That really sucks. It is the main reason I bought the EXS and Blows
away Unity's similar ability. I can usually build full-keyboard drum kits in
10 minutes or less using the Chromatic Import in Load Multiple Samples. You
need to raise a war cry on this issue. That would be a major jip!

SV: [exs] re: "Load multiple samples" not available

2001-01-27 by Mikael Adle

Hi!
I just bought EXS and after reading this thread it seems to be a PC issue.
Under the zone menu, Load multiple samples simply isnt there.
These are the options:
New zone
-------------------------------
Move selected to the top
Select zone of last played key
-------------------------------
Show end as length
-------------------------------
Sort by None
Sort by Name
Sort by Keynote (high to low)
Sort by keynote (low to high)
Sort by velocity (high to low)
Sort by velocity (low to high)
Sort by group
Sort by Filename
------------------------------
Update selected zone(s) info from audiofile

Very strange???
Im also on LAWG, maybe that has something to do with it.
Could anyone using LAWP confirm this?

Yea!
I allready wrote emagic about this. It would be nice if anyone using LAWP
could confirm this, or maybe its just a "Gold" bug.

Monitoring Audio Input

2001-01-28 by HELP@MusicProTools.com

I'm sorry. I know this is an EXS list, but I don't want to join Logic Users
just to get an answer to this question: How do you monitor FX when recording
an audio track. I read this was possible in a music magazine, but I can't
find the magazine anywhere in my house. Anybody know this tip? I'm trying to
record guitar while I hear the distortion/amp at the same time... Thanks,
Jer

Re: [exs] Monitoring Audio Input

2001-01-28 by HELP@MusicProTools.com

Barbara, who was kind enough to address my situation, has directed me to the
answer to my question... I will have to wait until LA 4.7 for what I'm
attempting. In the meantime I can monitor with FX, but I can not record
while monitoring with FX.

--------some of 4.7's enhancements----------

Interaction of audio track objects and input objects optimized in Platinum
and Gold
With Logic Audio 4.7, effects inserted on the audio input objects can now be
active during both playback and recording (pre-processing). This means that
the output of effects inserted on an input object will be monitored and
subsequently recorded. In contrast, the output of effects inserted directly
on the track will be monitored (once the track is record enabled) but not
recorded.

This new feature would allow a user to, for example, print a vocal track
with slight compression while monitoring with a reverb signal that will not
be recorded. The compressor is inserted on the input object and is therefore
recorded. At the same time, the track may be bussed to a reverb and so is
not recorded, but used for the monitor mix.

Hierarchical flip menus in Platinum, Gold, Silver, MicroLogic AV
Version 4.7 of Logic Audio Platinum, Gold, Silver and MicroLogic AV now has
clearly structured hierarchical flip menus, allowing faster, more direct
access to sounds, effects and Environment objects.

In the Arrange window the track instrument can now be chosen via a
hierarchical flip menu. Instruments can be organized by type (e.g. audio
track, audio instruments) or organized by Environment layer. Multi
instruments are represented completely, along with their hierarchical
structure.

In Logic Audio's mixer you can access all integrated Emagic, VST 1.0, 2.0
and DirectX plug ins by category (e.g. reverb, delay, EQ). Third-party
effects management is user-defined. In addition, any saved plug-in effect
settings can be managed via individual hierarchical categories. This further
accelerates the production process and circumvents operating system file
limitations.

In Logic Audio Platinum, Gold and Silver, hierarchical flip menu access to
Environment objects allows speedy access to several audio object types
directly from the Arrange window.
