MultipleVSTi's in Realtime - EP

Hi, This mail is addressed to Eric since he originally asked a question a while back that I believe this post may answer (it may benefit more people though). It involved triggering multiple instances of audio instruments (I think exs- 24's) in realtime in Logic to achieve layering of sounds similar to what you can do in "performance" mode on many synths. Now, I cannot take the credit for this if it answers the question but I found this post on the Logic TDM list by Laurence Cedar and I believe that it solves the problem. I do not know if this does solve his problem though. Here is the quote: [beginning of quote] > In the Environment: > > Create a Midi Instrument and give it All midi channels... > > Then cable the out the outputs of this midi instrument to the inputs of > The Audio Instruments (try 3 Audio Instruments ) > > When you play midi into Logic now, with that New Midi Instrument, it will > play all 3 Audio Objects ! But only when the sequencxer is playing ! > (weird)...If you have a fast machine they will play together. > > Don't know why this works ONLY when the sequencer is playing but wow..you > can stack synths on top of each other to get huge sounds in real time. > > Ofcourse you can modify it by inserting a channel splitter in between the > MIDI Instrument and the Audio objects..(make sure the audio objects have > separate midi channel numbers) and you can play whatever instrument you > want by selecting the midi channel you send to logic..THIS is Superb ! > ....for treating Logic as a slave Synth/Sampler module... [end of quote] I can't remember if the requirement was to be able to play without th sequencer playing back or not. If it solves the problem, perhaps Laurence deserves the free CD-Rom. For me bringing it up here, perhaps I deserve a discount on one ;- ). Oh well, I hope that this helps someone at the very least. Fernstudio
