[exs]OS X

Have you guys thought about what'll happen to your VSTi-plugs when we go
OSX?
After what I understand vst is allready gone...
Is it audiounits its called now?
I mean since EXS and the other Emagic plugs lies within Logic I guess that
will not be a problem, but what about my NI Pro 52 or Absynth or STYLUS?
Will these come with a free udate? (hardly....)
Anyone?

Spectrasonics will definitely be supporting OSX VST platform for Stylus and
all of our future instruments. This is what Cubase SX uses, so it's a given
for us. We are really hoping that Emagic does support OSX VST because no one
supports Apple Audio Units yet. Emagic has said publicly on the Logic Users
forum that they are seriously thinking about dropping VST support in OSX,
which we feel is a huge mistake. My guess is they won't do anything so
drastic. No matter what Emagic does, we are commited to the Logic platform's
future.

Can't promise that our OSX upgrades will be free, but if not they will be
very reasonable and most likely included with other cool stuff we are working
on, so it would be a very high bang for the buck if there is a nominal cost
involved. It will take us some time to get OSX compatibility fully wired for
Cubase SX and Logic OSX, but it is definitely a priority for us. I would
venture to guess that the same is true for NI too.

Hopefully we'll be there by January....but as we are learning with software,
only time will tell! Rest assured that we are on the case for the future.

Best,

Eric Persing
Creative Director

and with any luck the volume of beligerent responses to their
possible plans to that effect will cause them to ditch said plans.

This is very good news.

This is equally bad news - I read that and complained loudly. I'd
love it if you as a developer would voice your support for VST in
OSX. From all the posts on LUG, it seems the jury is still out on
VST's future.....

What a joke that would be. They are out of their minds for even alluding to
it. -Jer

I just unleashed my wrath to the folks in Germany. THE NERVE of Emagic. I'm
shell-shocked that this is a serious consideration. UGH!
