What is your current hardware computer/card setup (CPU, soundcard, etc)?
What is your latency. Does it sound sloppy or just too rigid?

depends on your sample and the EXS instrument, but the problem generally is
expressive response. Try using the Dynamics setting on the part to increase
the dynamic range- to say 150%?

Do you hear an audible difference in timing? I'm inclined to agree with the
other comment that the dynamics of pianos in the EXS are slim. Among pianos
for the EXS that I posses, some are far superior to others in terms of
spirit. I have yet to find a solo piano that I am comfortable with. The best
one I have has strings (hey, you just gave me an idea... perhaps the strings
are on another layer and I can mute them). Point being, most of the pianos I
have for the EXS suck, including anything ported over from my Ensoniq
ASR-10.

I'm basing the thought on how limited the dynamics are on the pianos I've
important. It isn't a very bold statement on my part. I'm still searching
for the right piano myself. I don't care for my present collection.

Why is this do you think?

dear List,

I got the pro samples grand and was very dissappointed as well. Pianos are
very hard things. You can get samples that sound great but the way they
play is the thing. Pianists, like drummers, play lots of "ghost" notes.
This is a hard thing to do on sampled pianos. Even on sampling grands like
the Kurzweil. For me it has never worked. That being said, I am warming up
to the 9ft painos in the Roland 1010.
