Just drag the SoundFonts into the instruments folder, but (and this is a big
BUT), only the wave form data will translate. None of the mod/filter data
will translate, effective ruining most synth patches. Basically, it won't
help me collaborate with my Windows/Cakewalk/Cubase friends. I was deeply
disappointed when I discovered this.

I just purchased the Planet Earth sounds. They came zipped in Sound Font 2
format. As per the instructions in the EXS Manual update, I placed the SF2
file in the Sample Instruments folder, opened up the EXS and selected the
file in the instrument selector menu. The EXS then automatically translated
(progress bar and all) the SF2 file into a bank folder with the instruments
inside and deposited the newly birthed, individual wav files in a folder it
also created called "SoundFont Samples" inside the Logic folder. I
subsequently moved that folder to another partition, but that's essentially
how the EXS pretty much takes care of the process all by itself.

The sounds were automatically laid out across my keyboard. Sounds which I'm
enjoying quite a bit, I might add.

Hope that helps.

Toma

[GEN] SoundFont library

A few quick format questions: There are some nice SoundFont libraries made
available by Emu/Ensoniq/CreativeLabs (http://www.soundfont.com) that are
basically drawn from Proteii samples, are downloadable, and cost $39.95 USD.
I tend to like the samples in the Proteus series. Anyway, are SoundFont
libraries compatible with the EXS24 and are they easy to import? Is there
any formatting retained? Has anyone used these?
Thanks for any info.

I have used the emu Pure Phatt soundfont. It was good and for the
price it can't be beat.

To get the filters and keymapping try chicken systems Translator.
