here is how I did it on mac w. os9.1.
you might be able to figure out some variation on this on nearly any
platform though.
the problem is about getting drives to mount without ejecting and then
making cdrs
I'll explain how to do this with a jaz drive, but you could do it with
a zip too.
I also used to do this with an old 500mb scsi drive before it finally
died and i didn't have to do the iomega steps below.
1- save emu banks, folders whatever to jaz disc.
you need to save banks in cd sized increments (I keep it under 600mb to
be safe)
and reformat the jaz disc after each cd is made. you need to have the
information at the front of the disc.
2- eject disc
3-use iomega tools (from apple extras) to locate the jaz drive. leave
the tools program open.
4- insert the jaz cart. the iomega tools will tell you it doesnt
recognize the formatting ( because you formatted the drive with the
emu.) BUT, it won't eject it like the mac os will if you try to insert
the disc without iomega tools open.
5 use your burner software to do a DEVICE COPY and make it copy only
650mb of the drive.
6 you now have eos cdroms. readable by Halion, and I suppose someday by
the exs.
when you import into halion be patient, it takes a few minutes to load
the eos discs.
And make sure it works before erasing or selling your emu. I have had a
few discs NOT work ... not sure why, but you can always give it another
shot and cds are pretty cheap.
and in logic you have to set up your save settings folder (in vst plugs)
and make a folder for your samples somewhere etc. I suppose in cubase
you can save settings from within halion, but its a little kludgy in
logic.
good luck
