Your thought process is a good one, but most of the stock EXS sounds are
pathetic. You will inevitably grow in your need to import sounds or build
kits yourself. For this you will have to spend time learning the software a
bit more comprehensively (and learn to import libraries). -Jer

I'm a newbie I'm afraid. The EXS24 is the first sampler of any kind I've
owned. Would it be best for me to try to restrict my sample library
purchases to EX24 format CD Roms?... Or would that just be
ultra-restrictive? Is it worth buying Akai libraries?(I'm on a Mac with
LA4.7), or are the conversion issues too serious- does it handle S3000
at all? As a technoklutz I would be grateful for some guidance. mike pg

ive converted quite a few akai discs now, mostly it all seems fine.
as far as exclusively using exs format material goes, well, there
isnt that much of it around and as jer said its mostly fairly
ordinary....i can recommend yellowtool pure drums and pure
guitars though...great dynamics, lots of sample layers, and all at
gorgeous 24 bit...
