EXS 24 Logic Sampler Users Group

Hi all,

I'm trying to get my Roland CDrom's into my EXSmkii. I'm using Chicken Translator's 
latest 'EXS Special Edition 1.5.8'. I've tried both OSX and OS9.....some translations got 
hung up in OSX and stopped at a certain point.

- after translating, some samples 'can't be found' upon attempting playback

- anyone know how to get 'Denny Jaeger Strings' to react to CC controller 64? how to 
set it up in the EXS?

- is CDExtract any more consistent?

I  haven't used Chicken Sys extensively but I do use CDXtract quite 
frequently to convert my AKAI CDs to EXS24 and it works perfect and 
is a joy to use.  On Windows the interface seems a bit more straight 
forward and flexible thatn Chicken Sys.  I've never tried a Roland CD 
though.  

The reason I use CDXtract instead of letting EXS do the Akai 
conversion is folder organization is a bit more flexible especially 
during the conversion process you are prompted with many options 
before the conversion begins so when it's done you can get started 
playing right away. If I use EXS to convert my Akai CDs I have to do 
some post follow up work to clean it up and organize.  With CDXtract 
all the option are selectable before pressing the "Convert" button.

Please use our Bug Reports page listed in your manual or email us with the 
pertinent info. We've done a number of Roland CD's (about 25 or 30) for our 
test-beds with great results.

Also note that 1.5 Build 9 is up and may solve a quirk or two.

Garth, thanks for monitoring that web site and writing back. I thought 
I'd throw the question out there to some people.

I did have a couple of buggy things happen with 1.5.8. When translating 
my 'Denny Jaeger strings' in OSX, Translator got hung up and stopped 
about 75% of the way through when it got the same spot it hung up in 
older Translator 1.5.6 and .7

It worked in OS9, but then when trying to play back I got some 'can't 
find samples' warnings from the EXS.

I got the same notice when i translated the Roland Rhythm Section cd 
rom, that it couldn't find the piano samples for the YC7 piano group.

I'll download the new version 1.5.9 this weekend. Thank you!

Which ones are they? I successfully did Denny Performances, and Patches, 
did some quick tests and things sounded OK. Separate folders were made and 
aliases created successfully. In OSX. Must be 1.5 9?

I tried Panther and Jaguar as well.
