Sampler newbie with 3rd party questions

2000-08-13 by Shane Fawkes

Hi all,

Just installed ESX into my LAMP set up, and find it all very interesting.
This is my first exposure to actually using a sampler, and guess I am
looking for guidance/confirmation for starting to build a library.
My primary uses would be oriented towards some of the R n' B horn bands, and
then maybe some acoustic jazz sounds.

My first question pertains to the 2nd Emagic sample CD; the one you receive
after they get your completed registration card. Can anyone tell me what
types of samples are on it, or at least direct me to where I might find that
out?

For starters, I think I'll limit myself to percussion oriented stuff...I'll
deal with other acoustic instruments afterwards. Particularly, I was
intrigued by the 'groove control' percussion examples in the promo that ilio
included. From what you hear of the 'retro funk' and/or the 'liquid grooves'
stuff, they seem to be along the lines of what I'm looking for, but I was
hoping to find some more examples or at least an index of them before I put
down any coin for them. I may have missed it, but didn't find much
additional info at www.ilio.com. Do any of you have any comments/experience
with these products? Any other suggestions that you consider worth me
looking at?

Thanks in advance, I'm looking forward to lurking, listening, and learning
much around here.

Regards,

    Shane
