IMHO, the damage has been done.  With Apple's "Switch" program and their 
initial decision to drop PC development of Logic Audio, I don't believe that a 
reverse decision will last long-term.  Even though they may continue 
development, it would only be a matter of time before they would decide to drop 
it again (ie when they've convinced enough LAWyers to switch to LAM.  
Ultimately, they do want people on the Mac, not running Windows PC's.  I can't 
help but think that at some point, more features will be implemented in LAM 
that won't make it into LAW.  This may make it harder to collaborate with other 
people and require special workarounds.

I, for one, will be deciding on my future sequencer platform as if PC 
development is completely dropped.  By the time the next paid upgrade for Logic 
Audio comes around, I'll be deciding whether I'm switching to a Mac and LAM or 
if I am going Cubase SX.  In the meantime, I'll probably pick up a copy of 
Cubase SX anyway and begin playing around with it.  If I go Cubase, I'll miss 
the exs-24 quite a bit.  There are some interface quirks and it could be a bit 
more flexible (to more accurately import some hardware sampler's banks like E-
mu and Roland) but it is very CPU efficient, loads sample programs quickly and 
works extremely well for sounds not requiring a lot of synthesis.  I use it 
mainly for drums and bass sounds although I do also use it for some guitars and 
orchestral instruments as well.

Anyway, sorry to ramble a bit.  I have appreciated a lot of the thoughtful and 
non-inflammatory posting lately as well.
