Hm, time for a CPU update, no? I have just been playing back 40 voices (5 EXS instances all playing 8 notes) of some rather CPU intense patches (all stereo, filter allways on) - no problem at all. Earlier EXS tests showed that I can play up to 85-90 voices with the filter and around 190 without. Not bad if you ask me, especially that these days some people allready would call my machine outdated. > i had read that switching out the filter helps (it does, of course) but > all that seems to result in is a bunch of nasty, fizzy pseudo 80's > casio type tones! Yeah, most patches don't sound well with the filter switched off, but some almost sound identical - looks like Peter Krischker (the programmer) had the filter switched on all the time, just in case he'd need it.
