Well, I've got to agree with you there. Seen the movie Chicken Run?

I was going to say "baloney", but after seeing chickens get along with each
other, you're right.

The city I live in is home to one of the biggest turkey producers in the
United States, Jennie-O. (It's the only reason it's on the map. Some of you
may remember the Jennie-O commercials where they made fun of the City
(Willmar), Nobody here thought they were funny. But then again, nobody here
that Fargo was a good movie either.)

When the "toms" (male turkeys) are born, they are debeaked by a microwave
beam in this little machine. They are debeaked because they'd peck each
other to death in the barns they are raised in.

(Side note, we wrote software that controls these debeaking machines and
the reporting mechanisms behind them.)

Seriously, though, in America, where the first thing that comes to mind
when you say "chicken" is Colonel Sanders, it's a "friendly" term. In the
South, it's even friendlier.

The origination of the name is this: in valiant search of a company name in
the mid-80's, during which the decade produced a bland assortment of
creative company and band names, under much study, thought, and
consideration - all lasting under 30 seconds - we came up with (drum roll)
"Rubber Chicken Software Co." - featuring "no joke samples." Certainly a
name that can be trusted with all your valuables and loved ones.

Since then, for a couple reasons, I (me) wanted to get rid of the name due
to some funny associations that the term "rubber chicken" alludes to that I
was too naive to realize. (I'm skipping a really funny story about this
here, for brevity.) However, it was apparent to us that only a small
minority of persons knew about that association, and the rest (maybe 90%,
and my associates) loved the name. I even got dates because of it, before I
was married. (Those are other really funny stories - not the dates - but
the acquisition of them.)

After 11 years, and during a decade that seemed to spawn more creative
company and band names, we decided to add a "dba" (doing business as) of
"Chicken Systems, Inc." (we incorporated)

Now, due to your posts, we'll have to change it yet again. Shoot. =)
