EML 100 influences

EML 100 influences

2007-03-16 by nicholas_kent

I'm just curious if anyone knows what classic gear the designers at EML could have seen to
influence the 100. I guess it's tough as I'm not sure myself when the 100 came out. I know it
was out in '71. And if they went to trade shows it's not unusual to see prototypes of other
brands before release.

I'm just curious about things like did they see a Minimoog? I'd be incredibly surprised and
impressed if they didn't. I would guess the 2600 street date is later, but I think Arp was
showing it off quite some time before.

I have no firm evidence, but the 100 looks to have more in common with the Musonics Sonic V.

Also, Musonics were using uA726s in their VCOs, and EML used those when they upgraded to the 101.
Moog only used them later.
