EML-400 / EML-500 Potentiometers

EML-400 / EML-500 Potentiometers

2004-09-23 by Casio Rapman

Hello.

Does anyone here know the best way to clean and lubricate EML-400 sliders?
They're Stackpole 5k Lin and 50k Lin. I think they used the same ones in
the EML-500.

They used a product called "rose oil" at the EML factory which was
recommended by the slide pot manufacturer. Anyone know about this stuff? I
haven't been able to find a source for it. Googling "rose oil" results in
lots of pages about what looks like a totally unrelated product.

Someone recommended using regular petroleum jelly for lube but I don't know
if that would be a good idea.

Someone else recommended using Archer contact cleaner from Radio shack but I
wouldn't.

Thank you!

Some time ago I had a couple of small vials of a very
light oil that I think was called rose oil. It was used to
lubricate mechanical watches back in the day.
It was a pink color, which is probably why it was
called that. It was supposed to be very expensive.

If a very light, non-dust-attracting oil is what they need,
I'm thinking that Hammond oil might be the ticket.
(That's the oil that is used in the generators of Hammond
organs.) Organ Service Co. has it in stock.
