Pot replacement

Pot replacement

2004-07-30 by spogfrawne

I have some really dirty pots in my 101. Can I replace them with
a newer pot, such as an ALPS without losing performance?
Or is there something sacred about the old Allen Bradley Type J
pots? I can't put cleaner in them because they are airtight.
Seems to me, a newer one would do better. Then again I know
nothing about them.
Any advice?

Cheers,

Spogfrawne

It's always better to replace a pot than trying to clean it.
Just use same value and taper type.
I only clean pots when it's impossible to find replacement.
Usually the difficult part is to find the same shaft size and type.

Use sealed conductive plastic or cermet pots if you want
next 20 years of trouble free operation
