Dear Mike,

Thanks for the uploads, I am sure the calibration procedure will be very
helpful to many of us! FYI, I have seen several EML101s in my time but I
dont recall any of them being below serial number 400. The letter you
posted shows a unit with a number lower than 300 but I wonder how many of
these actually exist. I believe EML used to skip numbers intentionally and
doubt they started at SN 1. Does anyone else here have a unit below SN 300?
I am also curious to know the range of serial numbers of the other EML
products as I suspect the same number skipping is true with other models.

Well my 101 SN is over1000. I think they kicked the SN's around to
indicate design differences so you can't really use them to determine how
many were made. (Note that in the calibration set-up they mention a change
to philips head panel screws after #900.) I have 2 EML 400 sequencers and
both have SN's in the 400's. According to several sources they only made
about 300 seqeuncers so obviously that SN isn't useful as an accurate
count either.

Someone told me that he heard EML intentionally bumped up the serial numbers
to make it look to their competitors like they were selling more units than
they actually were. Pretty sneaky!
