SP12 OLED install help

Hi, I know it's not an emax, but I'm just looking for a little bit of help putting in an oled in an sp12. I tried reversing the data lines and it didn't even start. The sp12 works fine, just backwards and scrambled on some things. I looked at the pinouts on these two displays and they seem to match fine. My connections are all continuous and I triple checked the solder joints on every one. The new display has jumpers for 6800 or 8080 mode and is in 6800 as stock. Could this be an issue? I checked with my meter that pin 1 is gnd and pin 2 is +5v so that's good. I'm out of things to check now and hoping someone has seen something like this.
