Hi! I got the SD HcX floppy emulator today. I cant get the HcX software to read em1 or emx files. I have formated the SD card to FAT32. When I try to load a disk image, which i think is the emx or em1-file, the software tells me Load error. Do I need to have the floppy emulator hardware connected to a computer while im loading the images? /Kalle

the hxc software takes a em1 file and turns it into a file for the hxc image file which is then put onto the sd card as a floppy image the software does it and you dont need the floppy emulator to be fitted to the computer the hxc image software does it all

Thanx Jammie, I will but o wanted to be sure it wasn't an emax-file thingy. One thing... Do I have to put OS-file and the sound disks in separate folders or can I have one os-file and lets say 50 sound disk files under the same folder? or maybe that's for them to answer as well? Thanks Kalle Med vänlig hälsning, Kalle Windefalk 11 jun 2012 kl. 21:46 skrev "jammie" <jammie.emma@...>: > plus if your having problems contact the hxc forum as you will be better served there for hxc problems > ----- Original Message ----- > From: windefalk > To: emax@yahoogroups.com > Sent: Monday, June 11, 2012 7:51 PM > Subject: [emax] Anyone experienced with the HxC floppy emulator? > > /Kalle > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]

One OS file is sufficient. Just put all your sound files (.em1) and the os file (emaxos.emx) in the same folder on your PC, and the HxC conversion software will merge each of the sound files with this OS file when it's converting them into HFE files for the SD card. This can be done in batch. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Kalle Windefalk <kalle.windefalk@...> wrote:

Thanx! Hope it will work with my work laptop.(IBM Lenovo) I have tested it on my MacBook with vm ware/xp with no success. I can format the SD card to a FAT32 but thats all. I also tested with an old PC but the HcX hardware dowsn't show up in windows. Does it matter what the jumper is set to for the emax? Hi Kalle, I found that the Mac OS puts invisible files onto the SD card that caused problems for the HXC. If you have formatted a card on the Mac then make sure to reformat it on the PC or check for the files '_Trashes" and "_Spotlight" etc... The flat cable and the power cable for the floppy is very short. If I wanna buy a longer cable, what should I use? Flat cable is not a problem to find (is there a recomended max lenght?) but what about the power cable/connector... can I use whatever as long as it has the requirements of 5v and that stuff? what are you talking about is it the slim floppy convertor or the hxc floppy emulator the floppy power conector is short but you can get extender cables the 34pin idc cable you can buy or make dont use pc versions as they have a twisted pair so it functions as ds1 you need a none pc versions as used by keyboards

no its a floppy emulator so works from the floppy drive chip on the emax mother board has nothing todo with scsi if you have scsi capability you dont need the floppy emulator you use just a slim floppy drivr £5 and a slim floppy convertor $17 and then use a scsi to pcmcia drive $75 which works out about the same cost as the ref f floppy emulator 1: you only need a floppy emulator if you rev of mother board is ref 1 or 2 that cant be converted to scsi specification this is the only reason to use one as they are for machines that have floppy capability only like akai s900/s950 roland s50/s330/s550/w30 without scsi they are for more synthesizers with out scsi specs at all like the m1 tseries t1/t2/t3/ex /01w/x5/xseries and any synth with a floppy drive in testing on the sy85/sy99 at the moment the yamaha tx16w the dsm1 the kawai k5000 if its got scsi capability then its best to go scsi route as its way quicker and can hold files much larger than 1mb 720k disks and 2mb 1.4 disks can hold the emax 2 has scsi built in in all models so is best to go the slim floppy route and cf card scsi device the reason on the emaxes that you have to go the sl8im floppy route is that if a floppy drive is not fitted the emax wont get past the diagnostics screen its the same on some other samplers to the s3000 also has this problem when fitting internal zip or cf card drives

I also tested with an old PC but the HcX hardware dowsn't show up in windows. Does it matter what the jumper is set to for the emax?
