EMAX II CDROM Drives

EMAX II CDROM Drives

2011-01-25 by Simon

Hi All

I have seen the list of compatible CD-ROM Drives issued by Emu UK, but wondered if anyone had any experience with any later units?..
Here is the list I have so far
From E-mu Systems UK:
Sony CDU-6211-10
Toshiba TXM-3201-A1
Toshiba TXM-3401-B (double speed)
Toshiba TXM-3101 (single speed)
Apple CD150 (single speed)
Submitted by users:
Sony CDU-8003A (double speed)
Sony CDU-6211-10 (single speed)
Toshiba XM-3101BME (single speed)
Toshiba XM-5201TA (quad speed)
TEXEL DM-5024 (FCC ID EQNDM5024) - available factory installed in an external case.
SONY CDU-541-41 (single speed). Roland once sold this unit as the "Roland CD-5"

Has anybody used/had success with Apple CD 300s for example?..

Would be a good resource to keep an updated list here I think

Hello Simon,

I have tried the following CDROM drives but none of them work with the Emax II. All of them work
with the ESI-2000 and Kurzeil K2500, so I know the drives are not faulty.

Sony CDU 625
Apple CD 300 Plus
Toshiba XM-5401B

Try the CD300 when you get it, you may have a different version to the one I tried.

Re: EMAX II CDROM Drives - YAY I found some!

2011-02-28 by Simon

Ok I managed to find a limited number of Toshiba TXM-3401-B (double speed) CD ROM drives which DO work with Emax IIs.
I have tried these with my own machine and can confirm that.
If anybody else would like a CD-ROM Drive plus a 5-Disc Library for their Emax, then drop me a line.
I am based in the UK, but can ship

When they're gone, They're gone

Hi Dan

I have a 5 CD library (Emu Elements plus a few others) that goes with it. I'm
asking £90 for a mech(add your own case)+library or £120 if you want an external
enclosure and SCSI cable for it.
If I were you, I would try and pick up the case locally to save weight, unless
you aren't happy installing a mechanism into a case in which case I'll be happy
to do it

P&P should be about £50-60, but I'll get a more accurate quote when I know the
weight

Simon
