Ok...

I got my Emax II a few months ago. It has 4MB of ram and not hard drive.

I got a smart flash card from scsi for samplers. It came in a scsi box.

Well, I wanted to bring all the sounds from my computer to the Emax II originally.

I have a mac book pro, I am a mac person. I have Windows XP runing in my Mac Book Pro.

So, I got a smart flash usb reader and the EMXP software on the XP.

First the Emax didn't want to recognize the scsi adapter of the smart flash. I change some jumpers and flipped the scsi cable connected to the board and it was recognized!!!! (all that took 2 days).

Then, the EMXP didn't want to recognise the usb adapter. So after doing my reserach I saw I was able to change the unit number. Usually the EMXP will look for an H or E device, well I managed using some sort of control panel in Windows to change that to the letter it was asking.

Then, after downloading the sounds from the Silverian family, those sounds from sweetwater. I manged to transfer the first image to the flash card via EMXP. And then to play it back on the Emax.

I have to mention the flash card and the adapter ar hanging from the Emax II, I haven't put all together inside yet so the guts are visible.

I was very happey to be able to read the files, the first drum files were close to crap, a bunch of samples with a glitch at the end. But there is this file called "atmospheres".... Oh My God!

I have a Korg wavestation AD, a Roland JD 800 among other samples but this is out of this world... The sounds of this machine is not normal. This was a machine made in the far future transported to the past. Just amazing. Jaw dropping.

Now is where the fun begins...

Glad to see it works on mac!

I just got a mcDisk2 (SCSI compact Flash/PCMCIA reader) for my emax2 and use a winxp computer with a USB compact flash drive on the computer to transfer the sounds with EMXP. It works perfectly. A lot of nice sounds available online.

It's a big move up for me having gone to this, from using a SCSI Zip drive and floppies.

I did the same but it took me 2 days, actually I got the Emax las august and bought the drives in october and I got them here in my country last week. Then I made my mac to read all the PC software and I had to but some cables used because in my country (Venezuela) you can not find those anymore. A work of digging into people's offices and old boxes finding the right cables.

But I made it work finally.

Now I would have to delete a bunch of banks because many drum sets are not good at all.

Then, there are sounds that resquest the 8MB from the banks from Sweetwater, that is a pitty. Eventually I may get a 8MB version on eBay.

But is nice the Emax II is working just fine and fast!

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
