A couple more (bozo) newbie questions...

2008-01-12 by Mike

Hi,

Many thanks to Ted for his other responses!

Just a couple more qs:

1: When I write the various .EM1 sample disk images to floppy, I can't
seem to boot from them. Is it necessary to copy the OS to any disk you
want to make bootable?

2: Is it possible to boot Emax 1 disks (with the Emax 1 OS on) on an
Emax SE, or will it give an error?

3: I was a bit disappointed to find that there's no headphone socket
on my Emax. I've plugged my phones into the "Left/Stereo" socket,
which gives sound, but it's very quiet. Anyone know of any hacks to
add a proper level headphone output?

4: Is there any benefit to getting my hands on an old Mac for sample
editing on the Emax (via the RS-422 port), or is the ability to import
.WAVs (via EMXP) a better proposition?

Thanks for everyone's help - I'm slowly getting there!

Cheers,

Mike.

1) All disks should have the Emax OS put on them. Which is a good
reason to get a HD or CF, because then you only have to put the os on
once instead of every floppy / bank.....

2) Non-SE OS will boot Emax SE, but SE OS will not boot an Emax that
is not SE.

3) Make a y adapter that has a 1/4" mono for left, 1/4" mono for
right, and bring them together into a 1/4" or 1/8 stereo jack....

4) I dunno- I have an old mac with Alchemy and the RS422

Ted
