Running EMX using DOS USB drivers

Running EMX using DOS USB drivers

2005-11-20 by soundcrafter

Hello all, just something I thought I'd share with the group:

I currently have 2 HDs in my computer, and no space to add anymore. I
haven't been able to use my other HD with EMX & all my EM1 files in
quite some time, and I've been looking for a solution.

During my research, I found that Panasonic has made a set of DOS based
(!) USB drivers. I gave them a whirl, and they work like a champ!

Now, I have EMX and all my EM1 files on a 256MB USB flash drive. I use
a DOS 6.22 boot disk that loads up the drivers and I can access it just
like a hard drive! So once again I have access to EMX and my samples,
and it was actually quite easy to set up.

Just thought I'd share, in case it might help anyone else...

Thanks Soundcrafter !
Are these drivers generic ones, usable with most USB flashdrives ?
Can you post a link to the Pana drivers ?

Thx,

From what I've read, they will work with most devices classified
as "Mass Storage" devices. Flash drives, external HDs, CD/DVD,
probably others too.

The Panasonic drivers also support multiple devices and USB 2.0!
Most of the others don't afaik...

I can't find the link, but I'll try to put a folder into the files
section with the file & my config.sys file from the boot disk.

Here's a link to one of the better articles:

Hi John! You're looking in the wrong place. The Silveria family site
belongs to the moderator.

The Dos USB files are in the "Files" section that you can access from
the Yahoo page for this group. Click on "Files" then look for the "DOS
USB Driver files" folder
