Does anyone have a source for the 800K floppy disks that the Emax SE requires? I need to buy 100 or so of those. Chris

I did a yahoo search... $40 for 100 http://www.heavymotors.com/disks.htm $10 for 100 http://www.ezlabel.com/500pcsflopdi.html $10 for 100 http://www.meritline.com/500pcsflopdi.html (note: seems to be same company as above with different name on web site?) (same guys again? Maybe they just use the same add template...) http://www.cdrdvdrmedia.com/500pcsflopdi.html price on request http://www.athana.com/html/diskette.html $31 for 100 http://www.dartek.com/ItemDetails/index.cfm?CMP=OT16170&OSC=667&ItemNo=3242-13407 There are lots more vendors if you want to do your own search. FYI...A High Density disk can be formatted in a PC as Double Density if you cover the hole on the left with tape. This should probably only be used in emergencies as a temporary measure, as it is said that Double Density drives write to the disks with less electomagnetic energy than High Density drives. Thusly, even though the HD disk (which is said to require a stonger magnetic field to be properly written to, than a DD disk drive supplies) may appear to work for the time being after being written to by a DD drive...it will be unstable and lose data sooner than if you had used an actual DD disk. However,(here's where once again I'll probaly get blasted by some group members) I have HD disks that have been formatted a DD, and 15 years later they are still good! Although, some people stongly advise against using HD disks as DD, I in all practical purposes I have not experienced the failure that is said to occur. That doesn't mean that you won't, just that I have not. I have seen no data of failure rates or longevity of such disks compared to the real thing, or HD disks formated as HD compared to DD disks formatted as DD (if someone has actual data on failure rates, please post it). Additionally, it is probably a good idea when buying your DD disks to find out when they were made and that they are new as possible...they may have been sitting around for 5, 10, 15, 20 years. Is a DD disk that was on the shelf for 15 years more/less stable than a new HD floppy formatted as DD? Who knows...but you probably don't want it if you can get a new one. I'd advise getting new DD disks even if it costs you more money, and no matter what format you chose to store your data, always make backup copies and store them properly and safely.
