you can create an iso image in emxp please read the manuals its all there in emxp

once a cf card is formated you can write to it in emxp

  Excellent
Once again, ted comes helps clarify

So I imagine if I unplug the internal SCSI HD in the Emax
and set the External SCSI drive (CF or DCDROM) to ID zero
then hook it up to the Emax external DB-25 connector to the SCSI
CD Rom or FlashCard Reader, the Emax should seek
and boot from the external SCSI CF reader or CDROM drive(s) correct?
No Plus OS system needed for that. The only thing I would have to do
is open up the Emax case and disconnect its internal HD so the Emax doesn't try to boot off BOTH the Internal HD and the external SCSI HD set to '0'

Last question, I don't believe EMXP burns OS disks to CDROM.
Perhaps I could send a Plus OS to a CF card using EMXP on my computer,
then simply use Roxio or Toast and burn that Plus OS CF card image to a CDROM.
Then just put the disc in the SCSI CDROM connected to the Emax and boot the Emax off of that.
Do you or anyone else, know of another way I can burn an 'PlusOS' CDROM
so that I can test out my theory? Perhaps there is an .iso image in our group or
at the drop box to where I can simply just burn the OS image off the .iso to create a bootable OS disk for the Emax then just
boot the EMAX off external SCSI CDROM set to ID 0?
Once booted into the New OS, I could format a floppy using the Emax and then save the current OS to the floppy and just boot off that floppy in the future.
Or, I could simply hook the internal HD back up and then boot off the floppy and store the OS on the floppy to the internal HD.
  Thoughts?
  Thoughts?

PLUS OS let's you see an ID other than 0. That's it. It doesn't have any affect whether said drive is internal or external, only that otherwise the only drive ever seen will be drive ID 0.

Emax firmware is set to ONLY BOOT from ID 0 or the floppy.

You can short two pins on the floppy connector to do away with it- but if you run into problems you will be taking the unit apart.

Hence why I suggest to still have a floppy... so if your SCSI isn't working you have an easy fallback position to diagnose.

Both my Emax 1s (rack and keyboard) boot from SD card in media drives at ID 0.

There are bootable images for use with EMXP already on the box site that just have to be written to the flash media....

Being my Emax I HD boots from its internal, 20 mb SCSI HD just fine, I thought about going with one of these

I am hoping This (highly expensive) external unit, if set up properly, it could allow one to do away with the floppy disk system altoghether,

If one could get the EMAX I to boot from it using files burned to CF card using EMXP you could say goodbye to floppies and internal hard drives (both which fail)

Now, Ted says without a Plus OS system installed and the external SCSI card reader set to SCSI ID 0 the Emax won't boot from the external SCSI device.

Hmm , I am not sure if he is referring to the fact that the 'Plus OS' has to be installed to see the 'external SCSI device) in order to boot from it or?
Right now, my Emax is with OS Emax HD SE Rev 1.1 and it boots off the internal SCSI hard drive just fine. That being said, I imagine if I hooked up the above
external SCSI CF Card reader with ID set to '0' (or perhaps even a use SCSI CD ROM with a CDROM disc burned with a PLUS OS system on it from one of the .iso disk image images
on our box or group server The Emax would boot fine as long as it goes to scan the external SCSI bus and reads the OS part of the CF card or CD.

Am I dreaming here or is this possible?
Anyone have any luck booting from an external SCSI CF reader and if so, please, share how you made it happen!
      Thanks
      Greg
