static white noise sound on top of EMAX 1 RACKMOUNT samples

2013-03-27 by Martin

Hi All can someone help me as my emax 1 rack is petty useless to me as is. someone previously posted this on my behalf and i still have the same problem after calibration using the diagnostics sheet.
I cant seem to record or play samples without a high freq white noise/static/hiss sound on top of the samples!? other than the SE disk with sounds already on and any other factory disks(they play without noise and the machine works perfect.)
It hasnt allways done this i used to be able to record without this noise on top and all of a sudden it started acting up.Iv tried pretty much everything calibrating, new os 1.1 3.2 and SE 1.1 on new disks made with EXMP,Checked filters, sample rate adrs etc.Copied the working SE disk to a formatted disk and then deleted the sounds then recording into it but still the bad sound!.
I may have changed the kettle lead whilst moving could this be the ploblem? Is there a specific spec for the emax power lead? or Is there a setting/effect in the machine that could be the cause of this hiss/static? Note with the lp filter i can filter out the white noise. the previous owner told me the machine is not faulty if you can filter out the noise you may have corrupted the disk/samples?.

Theres allways a harsh ripping noise or click when i turn the machine on.Im thinking there may be something wrong with the power supply or lead?.
Or Could it be ive used a disk that has corrupted the machine/os?? or upgraded to the se twice and corrupted the machine?.
Once you have upgraded to SE can you use only disks with SE 1.1 on them? or can you use other disks as long as there a EMAX os? ie 1.1 3.2 etc.
would formatting the machine back to original settngs then i can re-upgrade to the se using a fresh disk help? Sorry for all the questions just trying to sort this problem out so i can use the emax to sample/record.
Any suggestion would be very helpful!
