It's probably a hardware problem.

It sounds like it could be the key spring, as you mention.
Have you checked if it is located centrally between the two copper wires? Is it damaged in any way and may have fallen off when mounted back the keyboard?

If not I'd should trie to clean the springs and the circuit which they are connected to with electronics cleaning spray, if it would be corrosion.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
