Rev2 means it can be upgraded to SCSI, if it doesn't have it already (is IC6 by the SCSI connector populated? if not, you would have to get a kit).
Then you could add a CF drive.

You can get a replacement floppy or change to a slim floppy using a converter PCB....

To replace the LCD, you remove the main logic and then the button panel PCB. You don't have to remove the keys, IIRC.

The "red contraptions" are connectors that the LCD pins pass through.

You don't have to solder that side, but will probably have to solder the pins onto the LCD for a "header".
The LCD display pulls off straight, not to the side or anything like that (ie- they don't clip together)

it doesn't have a working disk drive so i have to get a new one and also there is no lcd screen since he accidentally broke it and then removed it when he replaced all the led lights(i did the research here and know which replacement to get from rs). otherwise it looks mint and i only paid $80!

looks like replacing the lcd might be tricky since i think i'll have to remove the keys and a few other things to get at it. i noticed some weird red contraptions underneath where the lcd must be soldered and was wondering what they are. looks like some sort of clips or something... maybe i don't have to solder just stick the pins in and fasten the clips?(if in fact that's what they are)

no more lurking for me! also glad to finally upgrade from my trusty mirage after 20 years of dedicated use, although i will still use it :)
