Hi, EMX has to run native as the boot disk, not under Windows. Its because it needs direct control of the floppy to write where no Win program has gone before....EMX is not easy to get running. The Emax was designed just after MIDI sample dump was specified, so its not the best implementation but you can get samples in and out of the old sampler using this approach. I even moved samples from the Emax to a Peavey SP using MIDI SDS. E-mu no longer support legacy products and the sample libraries have long since gone from the Scotts Valley offices. There is not even an Emax in the building anymore, just a few at employees homes! We do support Emax users and are happy to provide copies of the factory diskettes if our costs are covered. Email me off list at rob@... with an idea of what type of samples you want, and how many diskettes you want. We have 600 to choose from. I have tried everything to get some sample sounds downloaded to my Emax. Nothing seems to work. I tried running emx under dos (currently using Windows 98) and all I got when I put the disk in my emax was a CRC error. All I was hoping for was that someone out there would help me by copying some of their disks. I would have sent blank disks and a money order for return postage. Why couldn't Emu use a windows based program or a way to download thru midi from the computer. The technology has been out there for quite a while. It looks like I'm going to be getting rid of this thing, it is too much of a pain in the butt. I also wrote to Emu to see if by chance they had some disks, of course they didn't. I don't know how to get any other sounds out of this thing other than the ones that came on the rock pack. I don't have the money to put scsi on my computer. Thanks PS; I didn't put the viruses on the site. Emax and Emax II User's Group Website http://www.silveriafamily.com Your use of Yahoo! Groups is subject to the Yahoo! Terms of Service.
