The electro caps looked stuffed, which is typical for the age and they are the first port of call in a rebuild.

The transformer that you were so concerned about looks OK. The orange muck is just varnish usually used seal it up and to stop the wires in the coil whining.
What looks to be the high speed diodes on the heat sink just look a bit dirty.

Just finished rebuilding 2 switch mode power supplies for my TX816s

Just the caps were faulty.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
