I pulled the Mirage (MIDI sample dump) out of the closet and I'm getting similar communication errors with Turbosynth, . I've tried both a MIDI Time Piece I and II, no filtering of any MIDI data, I'm beginning to question the serial ports on the Mac. I need to do some more experimenting... I need to get the Mirage working first, I know that has worked in the past. Well, not that I'd use the Mirage, the Emax is much more magical and useful. --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "esynthesist" <esynthesist@...> wrote: > > Mmm... I see. Because RS422 features on the Emax are always preceeded by a normal MIDI sysex message. And your Emax should "react" when receiving this sysex message (by displaying RS422 comms message). So if MIDI note on/off works fine via RS422, MIDI sysex should work too. If that's true, the problem is caused by the 500kbaud speed required for fast communication. > Do you use the MODEM port (instead of the printer port) ? > Did you switch between AppleTalk ON and OFF (if this extension is available on that OS version) ? > > ///E-Synthesist > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "roberth909" <friction@> wrote: > > > > I bought my copy of Turbosynth 2.0 19 years ago, it's copy protected, I'm just trying to use it again, I have used it successfully with an Akai S700 (don't own anymore) and a Mirage (still own, in a closet). The original floppy with the software only works as a key, the software itself is unreadable, luckily I made and found a backup floppy of the software (and copied it to my MacPro for a further backup). > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "esynthesist" <esynthesist@> wrote: > > > > > > I tried to check it on my Mac but it seems that the TurboSynth 2.21 version in the files section is not supporting samplers anymore (?). > > > Any idea where to get this 2.0 version ? > > > > > > ///E-Synthesist > > > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, "roberth909" <friction@> wrote: > > > > > > > > It's a Mac Classic with the 9" screen, running OS 6.0.7. I'm not sure the OS matters, Turbosynth itself seems to run fine. Even the virtual MIDI keyboard within Turbosynth sends notes to the Emax, so I have proven that the Mac serial ports work, with MIDI, at least. > > > > > > > > --- In emax@yahoogroups.com, Elk Latham <elk_latham@> wrote: > > > > > > > > > > So are you on a Mac classic? or are you saying you you are on classic OS 6.0,7? > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > ________________________________ > > > > > From: roberth909 <friction@> > > > > > To: emax@yahoogroups.com > > > > > Sent: Monday, September 28, 2009 10:58:42 PM > > > > > Subject: [emax] Emax I and Turbosynth > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > I'm trying to use Turbosynth 2.0 on a Mac Classic OS 6.0.7 with an Emax SE 1.1 via RS-422 and all I get from Turbosynth is a message that there is a communication problem. Is anyone else using Turbosynth with an Emax and what is your secret to getting it to communicate? I used the information on emulatorarchive. com to wire my own RS-422 to Mac Serial cable, and I double checked the wiring to make sure the signal is wired as described and is passing through the cable. > > > > > Thanks, Robert > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > > > > > > > > > > > > > > >
