What is an

Emax "retro" HD

perhaps a model number and a more specific official name for the model 
would help us identify which OS is right for you.

You say you have an HD model, but you go on to say you are trying to 
save to Floppy. If it is booting up and operating all the time except 
when you save this is more than likely the sign of a hardware failure 
not a corrupt OS. Are you booting from HD? What OS is currently on the 
HD? Are you booting from floppy, with which OS?
