Hi Marko, The problem you have here is that the 6500/11 scanner MPU in your Emax has been mask programmed at the factory. Unless you can find a spare chip with the correct Emu software in the ROM then you are out of luck. I expect Emu did a bulk order of these back in the day but they are now long obsolete. I believe the same chip was used in the EIII, Emax and Emax II. If identical software was used on the scanner chip for all these samplers then it is likely that some Emu service agents may still have spares. The first thing you should determine though is whether the 6500/11 is actually the problem. The fault could just be an oxidised chip socket or something else entirely. Either getting another working Emax or getting together with someone who has one would be the simplest solution. Then you can swap the chips between the two machines and see if that fixes the problem. You would be better off trying your 6500/11 in the working Emax just in case your Emax is doing something that killed your chip. If you are not confident with diagnosing and repairing electronic equipment then it would be better to get a tech to do it for you. And always observe static safety, for every dead 6500/11 another Emax dies :( -- Best regards, Tristan Saturday, June 21, 2008, 4:28:05 PM, you wrote: ML> I don't like to do that (not yet anyway) because it's in very ML> good condition otherwise, and I feel it's worth a try to make it work.
