Re: emax randomly shutting down...?

2008-02-29 by Alan

I have had to replace the power supply on my Emax HDSE twice now.
Mine just failed completely (of course at a gig), was not
intermittant. I'm thinking it may not be the power supply. Maybe
you have a weak connection inside. Open it up and look for the
obvious. Also make sure the power cable or socket is not the
culprit. Also check that the fuse and fuse holder socket is making
good connection. If it is shutting down after powering up, it may be
a componant heating up too high, then failing. The price on
the power supply has doubled (probably availability). I've used EPR
electronics. http://www.eprelectronics.com/ You will have to pull
the power supply PC board to ship to them (fairly easy to do, just
mark your wires or take close up pictures before you start). They
will send back a different one that is recondidtioned. The one I got
back makes the voltage selector obsolete (so it recognizes any
voltage without having to switch the knob). Hope this helps. -Alan
