The drive would still stay powered up. The OS pays no mind to where it
was loaded from as far as telling the difference in hardware. I bleive the
reason my new Quantum Fireball 500Mb drive turned out to be
incompatible with the Emax II was because once it spun up for booting
it would power down and the Emax would have no idea how to get it to
turn back on.
