Re: Custom HD install

2000-11-22 by Steve Adam

While we're on the subject, is it practical / safe / possible /
sensible to sound proof an internal drive? I know I'll never silence
it completely but as it is it's really quite loud! I imagine you
could wrap the whole housing in some sort of sound proofing material
but presumably there would be heat dissapation issues and suchlike so
to date I've never dared. I use an external ZIP now as well but I want
to keep the internal one too - it's dead handy for live work plus
my Zip drive takes a second or two to go out of sleep mode if you
aren't using it consistently, which would bug me everytime I needed
to read the OS (one of the things I definitely don't miss about using
floppies!).
