Ed,

This WORKED.  My HD lives!  All banks+funcitons+memory intact!  **whew**

Any measures to be taken to keep this from happening again?  Or is it a
matter of powering the unit on every once in a while, like turning over the
engine of a car that's been sitting around for a long time?

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
