no this distortion happens to any sample being played, all notes play with distortion.
im almost sure its the PSU. does anyone know what voltage readings i should be getting on the rails?

I have an Emax and a problem I had sooo long ago (it was a warranty repair) was that if I played a note repeatedly and in rapid succession, some of the notes would come out distorted. It was as if some of the later polyphonic channels were bad (like the last one since it happened so infrequently) ... is that what you are talking about?
