In the mean time, does anybody have detailed documentation on the HD Diagnostics?

HD Diagnostics:

2. Read Only
3. Read/write
4. Burnin HD
5. Show Results
6. Show HD All
7. Media Defects

Neither Emax Diagnostics, the HD Supplement, SCSI Retro, nor the Service Manual PDFs give very specific details on what each does and what to expect.
