I think this can be the same problem the Emax II has with slow SCSI devices. There is a 
chance at power up the drive is not up and spinning yet by the time the EIII looks to it for 
the OS. On the Emax II this can be solved by assigning it to boot from a different SCSI 
ID then waiting for it to cycle around back to the ID of the HD. EG: if the internal hard 
drive is SCSI #1 tell it to boot from SCSI #3 and when that fails it will look through the 
SCSI chain for another device to boot from and when it gets to SCSI #1 the hard drive 
will be ready to go. This seemed to be a common problem with older Maxtor hard drives.
