Well- as XP is to be unsupported, I have begun a migration to Windows 7. Previously I had updated to an MSI motherboard (still on XP at that time), and my DOS utils like EMX and EMAXUTIL which I use to make SE update disks no longer worked. I was wondering if the MSI mobo and faster CPU (2.66 Ghz / 433Mhz Bus up from a 1.5Ghz / 133Mhz bus) may have had something to do with it…. Note that I had gotten the floppy to work with OMNIFLOP on the 2.66, but DOS should have still worked… just saying…. As I program the SCSI IC's in DOS- so DOS still had to work for me, along with Windows 7 for EMXP (DUAL BOOT setup). Well, interesting enough- I got an INTEL motherboard (again older model - not brand new the D865 model) with 2.8Ghz / 800mhz bus and the floppy works in DOS just fine…. I haven't tested OMNIFLOP with Windows 7 on this yet…. but that is probably tomorrow… So- FYI for anyone that might be migrating to Windows 7 and concerns about compatibility, my suggestion would be to stick with INTEL motherboard…. Of course- you may still have good luck with other…. Just thought I would share what I have found, and of course other requirements obviously may play into it- especially if you don't need any DOS.
