how would you sequence the machinedrum from your DAW, if you wanted to?

in its earlier state, one could change patterns or kits from logic, etc with program
changes and mapped note-on messages.  i see no way to facilitate this, now.  it's step toward
dedicated onboard sequencing, i guess, but it's step away from a more general, flexible 
usability.

respectfully, i preferred the older way, or a global preference, as submitted earlier -
it was more flexible.
