sounds fine. but is your PC setup to send MIDI to the MD? it shouldn't
be; but if it is, it might be sending a message when you hit record.

also, the MD might be sending it's MIDI (pattern) data out to the PC
and confusing the PC.

OR you've just got a MIDI loop going; the MD is sending MIDI to the PC
and the PC is echoing it back to the MD and making the MD lock up. maybe?

either way, it seems like you don't MIDI at all in the setup; you're
just recording audio. so try it without any MIDI at all and see what
happens. (you *did* say your were connecting the two via MIDI, right?
or am I just crazy? :-)
