Re: [disklavier] Mark IV service manual?

2012-09-25 by George Frederick Litterst

Good morning, everyone.

I don't have a service manual to send. However, I should point out that I have frequently encountered situations in which the Mark IV does one or more of the following:

--stops sending MIDI data
--stops receiving MIDI data
--doesn't record
--doesn't play back

The fix has always been a cold reboot. This means:

--shutting down the Disklavier
--unplugging it from electricity
--waiting an interval of time
--plugging it back in and starting it back up.

Unfortunately, there is no way to tell how long you should unplug it from the wall. You can try this procedure, unplugging for a minute. If that doesn't work, try again, unplugging for 45 minutes.

Other troubleshooting measures normally include:

--making sure that the MIDI plugs are not backwards (if you are using MIDI cables)
--making sure that the Disklavier's MIDI In and Out choices are correct (especially the choice between MIDI and USB)

Regards,
PianoBench

Can you still record OK ? (That would test the sensors).

Re: Mark IV service manual? /keyboard not working

Yes midi out is working, i can control a synth from the MIDI out
Also Midi in is working as I can play the internal piano voice when i connect the headphones.

The pedals respond but not the piano

I also cant connect or pair my PRC100 to the disklavier, tried lots of different settings but it cant find the piano

BUT I can connect to the disklavier from dkvbrowser on my mac and play files although its only moving the pedals.

The red LED number 4 on the Power supply unit is on, the unit the mains connects to.

Any ideas?
Any help much appreciated!

PS my piano is dc7m4pro

to clarify , that ISNT the solution, still got no keys working.
Ive revised the problems below.

Yes midi out is working, i can control a synth from the MIDI out
Also Midi in is working as I can play the internal piano voice when I connect the headphones from an external midi keyboard

The pedals respond but not the piano keys.

I also cant connect or pair my PRC100 to the disklavier, tried lots of different settings but it cant find the piano.
Anyone know all the correct settings to pair these two?

BUT I can connect to the disklavier from dkvbrowser on my mac and play files, although its only moving the pedals.

The red LED number 4 on the Power supply unit is on, the unit the mains connects to.

Any ideas?

Does the piano play back from the internal PianoSoft library?

If not, check the PD/KD cables going from the I/OCentre (big metal box with lots of ventilation holes) to the PK control unit (small box under the keybed at the treble end). You're looking for the green and the blue RCA phono jacks. If the piano is old, there has been an updated version of the cables. If the keys don't even work from the internal files, you may also have a problem with the PK control board.

Re: [disklavier] Re: Mark IV service manual? /keyboard not working

2012-09-26 by Roberto Fasciani

Hello everybody,

I have the very same problem since 2 months.
Keyboard doesn't move at all. Pedals yes, quiet mode working. During keys test no one key moves.
Internal PianoSoft library doesn't play as well.

I already unplugged power cable for 3 weeks while I was on holyday and I tried on my return. Nothingh happens.
Cables already checked (thanks for suggestion atomik).

I have tried to inspect the circuit board opening the wood cover over the keys and I found everything connected and a series of red leds are on (so power supply is connected).
Maybe bty8743 may check red leds this way to ensure power supply connection.

Any suggestion before I buy a new keys control board?
Anyone knows the price?

My DKV is a DC3MIVPro aged 2007.

Thanks in advance for your help

Roberto

Maybe this has been done, but.... System reset??

I am not sure how to do this without a controller. But I think it's available.

i don't have a DKV but when this happens on my Live Performance LX, it means that the solenoid protection fuse has blown. i have no idea if the DKV has one but it is certainly worth a look on the board, in the manual schematic etc.

Re: [disklavier] Re: Mark IV service manual? /keyboard not working

Power down the Disklavier again. Then remove the two cables going into the BLUE and GREEN connections from behind the key drive unit treble end, and re-insert.

Then, disconnect the two cables going into the BLUE and GREEN connections on the I/O center and re-insert.

Power up and then check piano playback. If it still doesn't work, you may want to purchase a high quality double RCA to RCA cable and substitute it for the two cables labeled BLUE and GREEN.

Re: Mark IV service manual? /keyboard not working

2012-09-27 by bty78743

I worked out one of the problems by switching the Ambicon CF card from the io centre with the prc100 and the network disappeared

On closer inspection I can see the CF card from the PRC is damaged
Anyone know where I can get these cards in the UK
?

Hopefully when i get the PRC up and running I might be able to fix the keyboard with a reset...
