Widows 7 and Spyder3 Elite

Widows 7 and Spyder3 Elite

2010-06-20 by JorgeG

I have purchased the Spyder 3 Elite and I have a Samsung SyncMaster 204t monitor. I'm planning to install Windows 7 on a new Hard drive. My motherboard has the Graphics build into it. It also provides ATI Radeon 4200 software with it.

I would like what are the steps I need to take to calibrate my monitor with my new Spyder 3, after I install Windows 7. I have couple questions:

After I have installed Windows 7, do I install the graphic software: ATI Randeon 4200?

Do I install all the software that's provided by Samsung?

Then calibrate the monitor with my Spyder 3 Elite?

Your advice and help with be greatly appreciate.

Jorge

Generally speaking, any software from a graphics card company is only
going to conflict wirh color management: I'd start by not Installing
it, and only add it if your videocard won't work without it.

If they offer a full featured display calibration package for this
display that supports the Spyder, and you wish to use that software,
then install it. Otherwise, install the Spyder software and use that.

Depends on what software is available, and which you prefer to use...
If their software is available, and will set internal LUTs in the
display, then you should do that at least once. After that you need to
decide if you wish to use that software permanently, or if there are
advantages to the Spyder software (such as calibrating all your
displays), and if you want to run that on top of those LUTs instead.

dual monitors

Just like to say I calibrated my Toshiba, touch screen, laptop M700 (with a
dreadful, directional cast between purple and blue)

And a DELL wide screen, plugged in as a second monitor.

With a Spyder 2 and latest software.

Simple.

Profiles were assigned to each screen & are recognised when plugged in.

I can drag an image from screen to screen with a consistent balance of
colour.

(Within the bounds of the laptop's capability.)

I had tried with an eye1 pro without success, figuring a true
spectrophotometer would give better results than a colorimeter.

Not so.

Congratulations, and thank you,
